Steps to replicate the issue:
- Open Wikipedia's android mobile app or Beta
- Select text from an article
- Click "edit here" in context menu (I use Wikipedia in French which uses the term "modifier ici" so the English term could differ a bit
What happens?:
The edition interface correctly opens but the "cursor"/view is placed at the start of the section that contains the text.
What should have happened instead?:
Instead, the cursor should be placed at the beginning of the selected text's location in the section. It was the behavior of a previous version of Wikipedia's mobile app (probably is more than a year old), so maybe the change was intentional and not a bug, though I find it less practical than before.
Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
Version 2.7.50550-beta-2025-09-22
