This release contains tests within the tabbed browsing feature for select users. We’re exploring different experiences for what happens when you open a new tab, providing recommendations for articles based on your recent tabs, and providing a way to close all tabs at once.
We also fixed a bug that was affecting Search within the "Saved" tab.
Beta Notes - iOS App Version 7.8.4 - More dynamic Tabs A/B/C test
This release can only be tested by users with a primary app language of English, Arabic, or German in the East, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific and Middle east and North Africa regions. We’re exploring different experiences for what happens when you open a new tab, providing recommendations for articles based on your recent tabs, and providing a way to close all tabs at once.
If you are eligible for the experiment, please follow these test steps:
- Open multiple new tabs by long-pressing on article links
- Open the tabs overview
- Open a new tab using the ‘+’ icon
- Navigate to a new article
- Navigate back to the tabs overview
- Verify that you are seeing that tab highlighted as the “active” tab
- Turn off recommendations using the three-dot menu and verify that they no longer show up in the overview
- Close all tabs using three-dot menu
If you encounter any unexpected results, bugs, glitches, or issues, please report them via Test Flight or by emailing iOS-support@wikimedia.org.
