Retained Newcomers
- Out of the newly registered users who made at least one constructive edit in their first 24 hours without it being reverted within the first 48 hours, the number who repeated any edit action within the first fortnight (day 2-15) following their constructive activation. This includes all repeated action edits (including edits to content, talk, and other namespaces) whether or not the edits have been reverted.
Constructive Activation
- Newcomers making their first edit to an article in the main namespace of a Wikipedia project within 24 hours of registration, and that edit not being reverted within 48 hours of being published.
Constructive Edit
- Also known as "Productive edits" or "survived edits" are edits which are not reverted within the measurement window
The query for retained newcomers metric, which we calculate every month considers edits made to any namespace within 24hrs which aren't reverted within 48hr as an activation. This needs to be corrected to include the condition for edits made to Content or main namespace within the first 24hrs.
