Update as we wrap up Q2:

  • We finalized our overall plan for the three days of the research track. This includes a CFP for lightning talks, invitations to keynote presentations for each of the days, and a timeline for our work. We are in ongoing communication with the Wikimania COT and they have provided input for all aspects of our plan.
  • When we come back in January, we will begin circulating the CFP and continue iterating on the program.
  • All meeting notes and plans are being tracked at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aeuM6ZByCM67tjWQVomO97Lz34lmYWW04gPj9UXl30I/edit?usp=sharing

(feel free to change the deadline: I put it a week after Wikimania 2026.)

I shared with Selena about this work. She would like to learn more. I think this is good opportunity to send a message to Kate, Marshall and Selena and give a birds-eye-view of the event: what and why. Please reach out to them (via Slack). You can mention that you're following up on an action item I asked you about and you're including Kate and Marshall for broader awareness.

I opened a dedicated Google Drive for the track's organization that can be found at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RyOouum-3jjdtv-uqISzE0RG9Sid6_5x.
The folder includes a clearer timeline and updated roles and responsibilities for the track.
