Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • Navigate to YIR
  • Navigate to any slide
  • Swipe left or right on the far left or right sides of the screen

What happens?:
The YIR slides disappear.

What should have happened instead?:
The previous or next slide appears

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
Tested on 2.7.50556-r-2025-11-13, on OnePlus 8 on Android 13, and Pixel 6 on Android 16.

@ABorbaWMF On Android 13 and newer, swiping from the edges of the screen counts as a "Back" gesture. Notice that doing this gesture on any other screen does the same thing.

For Year-in-Review, we'd agreed that pressing Back should close it, regardless of which slide you're on. Therefore, this feels like expected behavior.
