Background
Based on the results from More dynamic tabs experiment, we want to move forward with the new tab experience from Group C, and the general improvements that were applied in both variants.
We are waiting to scale the "Did you know" and "Because you read" modules at this time.
Requirements
- Release Group C changes to all users (even those who previously were assigned group B) without DYK & BYR recommendation modules
- Users can have 0 tabs. If someone closes all tabs, they see an empty state
- Empty state illustration and text
- Overflow menu with the ability to close all tabs
- Add long-press on tabs in overview
- Highlight the active tab
- There is no "Default" open tab of the main page. Users start with an empty state (0 tabs)
- When opening a new tab it brings them to main page, search is not active
- DYK and BYR modules are removed for existing Group B users
- "Hide/show recommendations" option removed from overflow.
- Leave user defaults - we want the device to remember the user's setting for "Show/hide recommendations" even after we remove the "Show/hide recommendations" button UI. That way if we ever re-deploy, those who have chosen to "hide" any time in the past will not have to turn it back off.
- "Hide/show recommendations" option removed from overflow.
- Remove the survey for all users
Testing Notes
Can be tested in latest Wikipedia 7.8.9 build.
