User stories:

As an editor, I want to be able to thank an editor for their contributions overall, so that I can have an easy, light-weight to recognize them for their contributions overall.

Concept:

Right now, the main way to recognize an individual overall (rather than for a specific edit) is through wikilove. However, wikilove may not be ideal for every scenario. It feels a bit higher stakes, since it generates a templated reward of sorts that goes on the user talk page, which often has a quirky vibe, an image, and sometimes even lengthy text. Meanwhile, thanks is meant to be quick and easy, and it doesn't need to necessarily exist as a permanent record on the user talk page. So, we're wondering if we could allow a way to thank an editor overall, and maybe an explanation can be given (see T407292), but it is quick, structured data on the rationale for the thanks rather than the more unstructured, loose form of recognition found in wikilove.

Things to consider:

• How would users discover that they can thank an individual overall? Where would this live? On the user page? Via a thanks dialog that may also be used to say why you're thanking the editor (i.e., thank for an individual edit for for larger work in general)?
• How would thanks for an individual interact with/complement wikilove? When would someone choose to use one over the other? If someone is on a user page, would they still see the heart for wikilove, or would it also be for thanks?
• Make recognition heart be for wikilove or thanks to individual
• Thanks to individual should be in thanks log
• Should work on desktop & mobile
