Expectation:

the non-breaking space is taken into account between the end of the sentence and the exclamation mark

Reality:

This is very similar to T401905: Unparsed non-breakable space in Special:CommunityConfiguration. It makes me think we should (somehow) audit the whole codebase for this problem.
