Event Timeline

Hi, @Gnangarra There is already a list called Wikidebate: https://lists.wikimedia.org/postorius/lists/wikidebate.lists.wikimedia.org/ Mostly empty. Is the request a complete different project? Are you requesting to take over it as owner?

Hi @Gnangarra what do you think? Do you just want to take over the existing Wikidebate list?

Apologies for not responding sooner

It is a new project, checking on meta the previous project https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikidebate its aim was to create a project(think WikiData scale) collect for and against arguements for any topic and was rejected.
This is totally separate with no associated user. Our aim is in creating discussion across topics between communities and building connections.

I'd be happy in either case and it does make some sense to usurp the existing one as the names are the simular wikidebate vs our project wikidebates as long as the archive of the original and the archive of our project can be separated.

Cheers
Gnangarra

https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikidebate@lists.wikimedia.org/latest and the command line show nothing of substance in the archives at all.

I see no problem to just hand it over to a new admin email in this case.

So to be clear. Archives can not be separated but I think it's a non-issue because there are no old archives:

@lists1004:/var/lib/mailman/archives# for archives in public private; do grep -A2 "messages" ./${archives}/wikidebate/index.html; done | xargs

No messages have been posted to this list yet, so the archives are currently empty. You can get <a No messages have been posted to this list yet, so the archives are currently empty. You can get <a
  • sent an email to the previous admin asking for permission
  • got a response that it's ok
  • logged in on web UI using global admin password
  • removed old admin email
  • added the 3 new admin emails listed in this ticket
Dzahn claimed this task.

@Gnangarra You should be able to control the list now. Login with your existing user and I assume you see that you are owner now. You can change everything as you like. Feel free to reopen if you run into any issues.
