Create French Language Project Wiki Documentation
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Description:
To better serve French-speaking users and contributors, we propose creating a comprehensive French-language version of the project Wiki documentation. Currently, all documentation is only available in English, which limits accessibility for French-speaking users who need guidance on using the application, troubleshooting, or contributing to the project.

Proposed Solution:

  1. French Wiki Structure:
    • Include all sections from the English documentation:
      • Aperçu du projet: Introduction to WQSAI in French
      • Fonctionnement: Step-by-step user guides in French
      • Documentation des fonctionnalités: Detailed feature documentation
      • Dépannage: Common issues and solutions in French
      • Notes de développement: Technical details for French-speaking contributors
    • Maintain the same structure and formatting as the English Wiki
  1. Professional Translation:
    • Translate all existing English documentation accurately into French
    • Ensure technical terms (SPARQL, AI, semantic web) have appropriate French equivalents
    • Adapt examples and context to be relevant for French-speaking users
    • Maintain consistent terminology throughout the documentation
  1. French-Specific Content:
    • Include French-specific examples and use cases
    • Adapt troubleshooting for common issues French users might encounter
    • Provide guidance on French-language data sources and SPARQL endpoints
    • Consider French UI conventions and user expectations
  1. Integration and Navigation:
    • Add language selector to documentation allowing switching between English and French
    • Link French documentation from the application when French language is selected
    • Ensure cross-references work properly between language versions
    • Make French documentation easily discoverable from the main project page
  1. Quality Assurance:
    • Have documentation reviewed by native French speakers
    • Test all links and references in the French documentation
    • Verify technical accuracy of translated content
    • Ensure formatting and code examples work correctly in French context

Benefits:

  • Significantly improves accessibility for French-speaking users worldwide
  • Supports adoption in Francophone regions (France, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Africa)
  • Demonstrates commitment to multilingual support and global accessibility
  • Reduces language barriers for French-speaking contributors
  • Aligns with the application's existing French language interface support
  • Increases potential user base in French-speaking markets

I would like if we could have a header like that in order to easily navigate through language

see the illustration

The problem is that before having this header, on Meta there should be the text writing in one language. And we use the existing text to translate in other language and the header will appear automatically. I realize that on Meta the English version was not completed and there was not a ticket to create it on Meta that is why I created the French version.

right I will send the message from the person who will create the ticket in english and also at this content inside the /docs/fr.md put this content and you will send me both the link for wiki and the your pr link

@Mndetatsin

Please, if the ticket is free, let me claimed it. It will be easy to me to do the English and later on the French version. Since the first language of the tool is English, it is better that the Main Wiki Page be English, and people will just come and translate it in other language. @BirushaNdegeya
