Per this OpenSearch Slack thread, we (Data Platform SRE) have agreed to help alpha-test the new 3.x version of the OpenSearch operator.

The release timeline can be found on Github, and we will communicate via both Github and the OpenSearch slack as appropriate.

To test in our environment, we'll need to:

• Create a new OpenSearch operator docker image
• Create a new OpenSearch 3.x docker image
• Provision a privileged namespace for the alpha operator
• Import/use the latest versions of the OpenSearch Operator and OpenSearch cluster helm charts
• Probably a lot more I haven't thought of yet
