Article lead images render in washed-out white tones for some articles
Open, LowPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • Open the Wikipedia Android app
  • Open certain articles (example provided by the user: Herbert Wehner)
  • Observe the lead (cover) image at the top of the article

What happens?:
For some articles, the lead image appears almost entirely in white or washed-out shades, losing normal color and contrast.
This makes the image distracting and difficult to view.

The issue:

Does not occur on all articles

Persists after clearing the app cache

Occurs on the latest app version

What should have happened instead?:
Article lead images should display with correct colors and contrast across all articles, consistent with how images appear on the web and without unintended visual distortion.
