Steps to replicate the issue:
Users reported that while Alemannic German (als) articles can be accessed by:
Adding Alemannisch via Settings → Wikipedia languages, and
Searching directly for alswiki articles,
they do not appear in the in-article language selector when reading articles in other languages on the iOS app.
This differs from desktop and mobile web behavior, where alswiki versions are correctly shown via the language switcher:
- Open the app.
- Open an article that has an Alemannic German version (alswiki).
- Tap the language selector icon.
- Observe that Alemannic (als) does not appear in the list.
What happens?:
Alemannic German (als) is missing from the language selector in the iOS app.
What should have happened instead?:
Alemannic German (als) appears in the language selector in the iOS app.
Other information:
Some examples: de:Astrid Starck or de:Radio X (Basel) or en:Meinrad von Einsiedeln are all connected to alswiki articles (which you can all access using the language selector on desktop / mobile browsers) but when reading those articles on the iOS app and then using the language selection icon it doesn't show there's an Alemannic version.
Wrong translation of “Alemannisch” as “Albanian” is already tracked separately: T398296
