Create a Fundraising specific SAL
Closed, ResolvedPublicFeature

Description

We'd like to more regularly use the SAL for FR-Tech things. We have some of our own tooling that does announcements in our private team channel but we'd also like to use !logs in #wikimedia-fundraising. But they currently get drowned out by the deluge of production logs.

Event Timeline

Would https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/SAL be a reasonable place to record the !log messages?

Would you like these !log messages to be published to https://wikimedia.social/@sal as well as the wiki recording?

Both are fine. And I assume the separate view on https://sal.toolforge.org/ is just going to be via having a fundraising entry on the /projects list?

I think that will happen automatically, yes. The project name is actually configurable, but fundraising sounds like a good label to me.

Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-cloud) [2026-01-24T00:54:14Z] <wmbot~bd808@tools-bastion-14> Restarted to pick up config changes for T415389

Stashbot's config is kept in private files on Toolforge because I have been too lazy to update things to read secrets from envvars instead of embedding them in a YAML document. I will log the changes here for posterity.

The old config for the #wikimedia-fundraising channel was:

etc/config-libera.yaml (partial)
sal:
  channels:

    '#wikimedia-fundraising':
      # Exactly the same as -operations
      use_config: '#wikimedia-operations'

The new config is:

etc/config-libera.yaml (partial)
sal:
  channels:

    '#wikimedia-fundraising':
      # T415389: FR-Tech specific SAL
      project: fundraising
      wiki: wikitech.wikimedia.org
      page: Fundraising/SAL
      category: SAL
      mastodon: wikimedia_sal
