Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):
- visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMHS_Britannic
- scroll to "Wreck" section
- you can see a map with a red dot showing the location of the wreck. This is in the body of the article as included image
What happens?:
- if I click the image, I get it displayed in the media viewer, higher resolution, but the location is no longer shown
- the location dot is not clickable
Note: this happens in both web version of Wikipedia and the Wikipedia Android app
What should have happened instead?:
Having this highlight, I would expect to see the location mark dot also in the higher resolution view of the image such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Greece_location_map.svg (which shows the image in a HTML interface, not the image as individual graphic file such as original file or other resolutions links).
Normal user expectation would be to still see the location marker.
I am not saying the underlaying graphic should necessarily be changed, however in the part that shows the graphic in the media viewer, the dot marker should be overlayed.
This is especially relevant in the Android app, where user interractions are more basic.
I know the article text contains a geo location reference, this is completely independent to what I am describing.
This is the code in the article.
{{Location map|Greece|label=|marksize=6|mark=Red pog.svg|lat_dir=N|lat_deg=37|lat_min=42 |lat_sec=05|lon_dir=E|lon_deg=24|lon_min=17|lon_sec=02|position=right|width=250|caption=The wreck's location off the coast of Greece}}Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
