Active Blocks, Contributions and Global Contributions only shows data for one temporary account at a time
Closed, ResolvedPublic3 Estimated Story PointsBUG REPORT

Description

What is the problem?

If an IP is shared by multiple temporary accounts, if I go to Special:Contributions for one temporary account the data in IPInfo under the Active blocks, Contributions and Global Contributions sections only counts contributions and blocks from that one temporary account.

If I view Special:Contributions for a different temporary account but which uses the same IP, I see a different set of numbers.

Steps to reproduce problem

Compare the data in IPInfo for:

This is (currently) expected behaviour in that the user is still viewing Special:Contributions for a particular target. All the user tool links, IPInfo, etc still relate to the main target.

However, it strikes me that:

  • This is confusing, as this task has been filed and a similar conversation came up in code review. We could find a way to make it clearer that everything else on the page is about the main target.
  • We're designing something brand new to show this information, but how should this interact with the IPInfo accordion only being about one user?

@Madalina I'm putting this task into In Refinement, for your attention.

hector.arroyo moved this task from Up Next to Backlog on the IP Info board.

As per our internal conversation it looks like we could solve this by adding the TA username to the ip info accordion to clarify what information is being shown. Assigning to @KieranMcCann-WMF to help with design.
