Selecting many/multiple (>7?) files at once: Some are missing in the batch
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

This bug is not related to the last 2 deployments but older. Since I am using UW for bigger batches it annoys me so I report this bug now :-)

Selecting many (>7?) files at once results into missing some of them in the next step (uploading to stash).

I have to look which ones are missing and add them as other file(s) separatly.

This happens with FF 14, 15, 16 beta (I believe Chrome works fine).

Wondering if anybody has seen this with a different browser than Firefox yet.

Which step do you mean? Normally by steps we mean the arrowheads on the top; none of them is called uploading to stash.

I tried uploading 8 images and all of them were present *at least* till the describe state.

For me it was upload step:

(Quoting from bug 40114 comment #3)

I'm not sure it's the same bug. I reported a random selection in the upload
step, while bug 39902 is about files disappearing in the next step. Perhaps
we
described it bad though.

Sometimes I spot this error in the notify bubble:
https://bits.wikimedia.org/commons.wikimedia.org/load.
php?debug=false&lang=de&modules=ext.
uploadWizard&skin=vector&version=20130507T023853Z&*
at line 0: Script error.

Would be pretty nice to get the exact file and line number, by using the JavaScript error console that Firefox provides.

I used chrome to try and upload things. I tested 8 files. When I started uploading, it was fast, but later, it took about 7 seconds or so per photo. All of them stayed during the describe part. However, when I finished, only five files remained.

So the files were lost while you went from the details step (description, categories etc) to the thanks step (text about how you can use the files on a wiki)?

@Lukeyhano: Thanks. On which server did you test this? Locally? Wikimedia Commons? Somewhere else?
(Just for your interest: Chrome version is generally also welcome, but irrelevant in this case.)

Sorry for not responding, I have been very busy recently. I re conducted the tests on Chrome OS Version 46.0.2490.82
The tests were done on Wikimedia Commons
Uploaded 8 files, took around 3 minutes to upload (may just be my internet)
All 8 files were uploaded successfully.
I'll try Firefox sometime later though if needed.

It seems to be unclear if this issue still happens to anybody.
I propose closing this task as declined.
