Background

MediaWiki core's Skin.md should work as a entry point for understanding skins.
As of begin of 2026 it is a collection of widely outdated realitities and references that would only make sense in a code historical way. And are better off in mediawiki.org than in a software documentation entry point.

This has been spun-off from T418255.

Acceptance criteria for done

Update the file accordingly and remove the legacy references dating back to v1.25 (released 2015) and earlier
