i18n: Unify on “saved pages” for ReadingLists
Closed, ResolvedPublic1 Estimated Story Points

Description

Background

The product has standardized for the moment on the term “saved pages” to refer to items stored in a user’s saved list. However, there are still a few remaining strings in the codebase and UI that use the older wording “saved articles.”

This inconsistency appears in some list-related labels and messages, which can create confusion for users and translators. From an internationalization (i18n) perspective, having multiple terms for the same concept makes translation more complex and may lead to inconsistent translations across languages.

To improve terminology consistency and simplify translation, all remaining instances of “saved articles” referring to lists should be updated to “saved pages.”

Goal

Ensure consistent terminology across the product by replacing remaining occurrences of “saved articles” with “saved pages” in reading list-related UI by i18n message keys where appropriate.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Update all user-facing strings referring to list items use “saved pages” instead of “saved articles.”

No functional behavior of saved lists is changed, this task is strictly a terminology update.

Checked - the term “saved pages” is consistently applied to relevant actions.

Notes:

  • when an article is added (or removed) to saved pages, the message appears: "[an article] was added to your saved items" :

"readinglists-default-title": "saved items"

I assume it's ok?
-it seems that iOS app uses saved articles terms, but I couldn't find actual examples in iOS app.

@Etonkovidova Thanks for the full review. It's not superoptimal, but ok. In the discussions leading here, it was also observed that we might need to change again to "saved items" in the future if the scope of ReadingLists is extending to other content types beyond "pages".
Once more: "saved items here" with the activated icon seems sufficient.

Thank you @Volker_E for clarification! I agree - current usage of saved pages" (and "saved items") looks consistent enough.
