Background
As mobile web and desktop users gain the ability to save specific articles to their list on Wikipedia, we want to surface this feature to logged-out readers on mobile web to see if this would encourage them to create accounts at a higher rate compared to the existing "watch" star button. This experiment will compare the account creation rates between control (the "watch" star, with "login" as the primary CTA) and treatment (the "save" bookmark icon, with "create account" as the primary CTA)
Timeframe: Q4 FY25-26 (April-June, 2026)
Hypothesis text: If we surface Reading Lists to logged-out readers on mobile web, the registration rate will increase by at least 2% relative to the control group.
