As part of the work on Article Guidance (T396029) a workflow is proposed to help editors create a new article. Most of the guidance is provided before and while users create their content. However, there are opportunities to help users when they complete the initial version of the contents. Right after publishing we can help them to anticipate what will happen next and present them with options of what they can do next.
After publishing an article, we can show users an invite that provides the following (feel free to expand/iterate on these initial ideas):
- Introduce the idea that the editor community will review the contents.
- Encourage users to edit the article further to make it easier to read and backed by references for editors and readers to verify.
- Consider expanding the article with sections from the outline that were not included.
- Invite to try other ways to contribute: surfacing micro-tasks such as addign an image, etc.
UX direction
- Simple publish message, then a copy to guide toward improving article quality
- Clicking on "Improve article" button opens the ve along with suggestions if available
- For desktop, use CdxDialog (centered with backdrop)
- For mobile, Cdxdialog along with bottom sheet.
- Title: "Article has been published"
- Green checkmark icon (cdxIconSuccess, color-success token) inline with body text
- Body: "Other editors will review this article. Meanwhile, take another look at the suggestions to improve it."
- Primary action (progressive): "Improve article" → opens VE on the article
- Close icon top-right corner, user stays on their published article
- clicking outside the dialog dismisses it, same behavior as close icon.
