Make "redirects" included by default in PageTriage
Closed, DeclinedPublicFeature

Description

What the title says :). It would be useful to have redirects appear in the default view for new curators.

Page curation extension offers several filter possibility.

One of the filter setting is "Show Redirects", which is disabled by default.

This bug offers to enable this setting by default.

[ Adding 'easy' keyword ]

As discussed in today's meeting, let's hold off on this, and revisit after we've had a chance to look at the data with the current settings (which do not include redirects by default).

[ Removing 'easy' keyword, per comment 2 ]

@Insertcleverphrasehere :--There's no need for this, IMHO and the current option is quite fine as NPP is primarily meant to screen new articles. At best, when NPR flag is granted, he/she can be alerted that the tool lets him/her review newly created redirects too.

@WingedBladesofGodric I disagree strongly. Redirects are a core part of NPP, and many new NPR rights holders don't know because they aren't ticked by default at Special:NewPagesFeed. If those editors don't enjoy reviewing redirects, they can feel free to untick it of course.

Are we sure there is consensus for this? I know it was over a year ago, but there are two conflicting opinions in the discussion here.

It doesn't seem like there is consensus for this change. FWIW, it seems like a bad idea to me, as it would make the article backlog even worse (which is currently at 6660 pages and rising). Unless someone can point to a consensus discussion to implement this, it should probably be closed as DECLINED.

Lol wut? One person objects here and you drop it? We had a consensus with dozens of NPPers when drafting the list of things to request, before we ever went to the Wishlist, which is ANOTHER consensus. Otherparent much?

The task has not been declined. Apologies, it is not obvious there is consensus for this, which is why I asked (one oppose was enough to put it into question). I don't see it on the list for the Wishlist Survey, or else it would have been done by now. If there is consensus, no problem, this is a very simple change and an easy code review.

Aklapper changed the subtype of this task from "Task" to "Feature Request".Feb 4 2022, 11:14 AM

I'm leaning no on this one. As of July 2022, thanks to Danny's bot and the efforts of Rosguill and other redirect patrollers, the redirect queue is at 1 month and the article queue is at 5 months. Strategically it seems better to prioritize and highlight the article queue.

Current consensus is against this. Marking as declined.
