Announce availability of regex support within TextMatch
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This task involves the work of announcing the availability of regex support within TextMatch.

Story

As a technical volunteer experienced with pattern-based tools (e.g. AbuseFilter, gadgets, etc.) who is motivated to A) improve Wikipedia's content and/or B) detect/deter changes that could harm it, I want to know that TextMatch now supports regular expressions, so that I can evaluate whether checks my community currently implements elsewhere, or has been unable to implement at all, could be expressed as TextMatch rules that surface relevant feedback to editors while they are editing.

Message requirements

The announcement we publish ought to equip volunteers with the info. they need to answer the following questions...

  1. What is TextMatch and what does regex support make possible?
  2. Where can volunteers see working examples?
  3. How can volunteers configure a rule on their wiki?
  4. Where should volunteers report bugs and request features?

FYI here's the diff post draft if anyone has thoughts.

And today's issue of Tech News included a TextMatch blurb that @Quiddity wrote.
