Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):

  • modify existing or create gnu agpl, gpl and lgpl copyright templates on any wiki.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):

  • template editors: license info, standard license header and links to various license versions in WikimediaMessages will pave way for standardised gnu agpl, gpl and lgpl copyright templates.
  • translations: centrally on translatewiki. reliance on local copies of translations using template autotranslate can be minimised.

  • right now all versions of gnu agpl, gpl and lgpl templates are not available on all wikis
  • existing templates (which have entry on wikidata), link to wikidata query and number of wikis (*.wikipedia.org, commons, *.wikibooks.org, etc.)
  • pros
    • provide consistent and uniform text in templates on all wiki templates
    • manage translations centrally instead of using template autotranslate
  • cons
    • persuade or inform various wiki admins either on wiki help or template talk page (if protected) to use and adapt locally
    • someone has take responsibility to make necessary changes on protected templates

Hi @kalki, thanks for taking the time to report this! Unfortunately this Wikimedia Phabricator task lacks some information, it is unclear to me what you'd like to see where and why, and what this has to do at all with the WikimediaMessages codebase.

If you have time and can still reproduce the situation: Please add a more complete description to this task and structure this ticket into subsections, and use list markup for lists, so text becomes readable, plus mixing (1) and (a) style is pretty confusing anyway.
