Feature summary:
- According to m:InternetArchiveBot/How the bot fixes broken links#Parsing the page the IABot scans the page’s wikitext for known syntax elements.
- Sub-referencing (<ref name="..." details="...">) is currently not supported – it should be.
Use cases and benefits:
- Assume a page with the following wikitext:
<ref name="example" details="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page">Example</ref> <ref name="example2">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page"</ref>
- When scanning the page and adding archive links, IABot currently ignores the sub-reference (example).
- While most sub-references just contain a page number, some contain URLs, e.g. Google Books links / scans of different book pages or sub-pages of a website.
