This seems to have been closed but the subject line has not been updated - we had a ticket come into Zendesk today (https://wikimedia.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/1889735) with the same old subject line.

SBurnett-WMF subscribed.

this was reopened at Kristie's request & Anil suggested putting it on the chaos board for prompt attention

Adding to this, we also would like to request a copy change in the automated email that is deployed, as we are seeing a bunch of seemingly spam tickets reaching us with this SL, with no message in the body of the email.

Can the automated email populate prompt copy too? So we request the donor's full name, email address and amount and currency of recurring donation (or something along those lines)? @KHill-WMF for input.

However please lets get the SL change over the line - I don't want that piece to be slowed down as we figure out the copy. Thanks!

Thanks @krobinson, the SL change has just been deployed and I confirmed it has changed. I'm not sure I fully understand the new ask, do you mean to populate the donor's email with this Subject Line similar to that of the "Request to change payment method"?

Thanks for confirming @Damilare !

Sorry, re the new ask, the request would be to not just open an email with a SL pre-populated, but also with some text in the body of the message, prompting donors to share full name, email address, amount and currency of donation.

It could be along the lines of :

//In order for us to assist you with your request, please share the following information:

  • Your full name :
  • The email address associated with your recurring donation :
  • The amount and currency of your recurring donation : //

Checking with @KHill-WMF for his input , as if this is coming in the body of the email perhaps we want it in the first person:

//

  • My full name :
  • The email address associated with my recurring donation :
  • The amount and currency of my donation : //

Awaiting confirming of the exact copy, but is this something we could build, Dami?

I'm wondering if the donor is logged in, and we actually have access to this data already, could we create a request button that prepopulates the above information in a message to Donor Relations? So not a mailto link, but an action button that triggers a report for donor relations?

@krobinson we can add the template but I'm not sure if it'd fix the issue of abuse as instead of an empty email, a spammer could just send back the template also.

@KHill-WMF this button is located before the user logs in, so we wouldn't have that information to pre-fill.

Yeah, I understand that @Damilare but I feel like a real donor will fill the information in or leave a message and it will just help us more easily decipher real from spam. I think let's try it and take it from there depending on volume.

Thanks @krobinson, as this is a new ask, I've created T429327 for visibility.

Apologies, @Damilare - I placed my question about a button in the wrong phab task!
