VisualEditor: Link inspector: Width of suggested titles too short
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The width of suggested titles in the link inspector is too short for practical purposes, see: http://imgur.com/cJEnn

In production wikis like en.wp this will be an issue with titles that are long and hard to disambiguate, e.g. "List of countries by GDP (nominal) per capita" vs. "List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita", which would both be abbreviated to "List of cou...per capita".

Perhaps the dropdown could dynamically expand in a similar manner to the search box suggestions.

Styled suggestion dropdown into a single column which is a much more space conscious approach for displaying longer page titles vs the two column.

Changed in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/36227

Possible enhancement:
Some additional room could be gained for long titles within a specific namespace by grouping suggestions by namespace and trimming the namespace from the titles. The label for that group would indicate the namespace for the suggested page.
