Background
The For You feed builds itself based on interests selected in onboarding, past reading history, saved articles, and "discover". If a user has just joined the app and not added any interests, their feed may be empty. All modules are on. We should ensure there is a feed state that makes sense for these users.
The empty state replaces the entire feed — no module cards are shown.
User Story
As a new Wikipedia reader who has not selected any interests or read any articles yet in the app, I want to see a helpful explanation of how to generate my feed by adding interests or reading articles, so that the feed doesn't feel broken, and I understand how I can populate my feed.
Requirements
- The empty feed state is shown when the user has 0 modules of personalized content available at that time
- The standard feed chrome remains visible: Wikipedia wordmark (top left), Community/For You tab switcher, language switcher, notification bell, and bottom navigation bar.
- A heading reads: Your feed is empty for now
- A supporting message reads: Your "For you" feed will populate with personalized articles as you explore.
- Subheading "Ways to get started:"
- CTA labeled 'Add some interests' navigates directly to Settings → Home Feed → "What are you interested in" screen
- CTA "See what's happening in community" that leads to the community feed
- There is no more menu, no card counter, and no reason label on the empty state — it is not a feed card.
- If the user navigates to the Community tab while the For You feed is empty, the Community tab is unaffected and displays normally and vice versa.
- If a user adds at least 1 interest from settings, their feed populates and the empty state is removed.
