See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/phame/: it is not active (most recent is 6 month ago and only ten posts since 2024) and we have Diff also for technical posts (cf T417940).
Hmm, where would be a central place/URI where I'd put a very boring list of changes from Phabricator deployments? I don't feel like this is in scope for Diff.
Phame did seem to be the good middle ground, but it also appears to be missing from the default dashboard view now?
This can be placed in the task about upgrading Phorge and/or a page in MediaWiki.org such as https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Changelog
I removed it a while ago from the default frontpage dashboard as it's irrelevant for every-day work. Not everything can or should be featured on the frontpage.
I don't, tbh, see a lot of urgent need to disable this one. It's not like it's consuming a ton of resources or greatly increasing the maintenance burden of our Phorge instance.
I would be pretty surprised if we actually had a post on Diff for every Phabricator deployment. It seems much more likely this would mean we simply don't get these posts anymore?
It could be on a technical wiki though (which is not mediawiki.org).
Maybe the update can be posted to the historical wikitech-l mailing list?
At some point we had a Wordpress instance dedicated to tech and we nowadays have Diff. I still feel Diff might have a very wide audience and I am not sure the pure tech topics have their place there or whether developers/engineers will be able to discover the posts there (then they probably don't see the ones on Phame either).
The only advantage I see in Phame is I use the same syntax and interface I used for the Phabricator task(s) the post is inspired from. I like Phame but it recognize it never got much traction.
