We would like to migrate some large databases from ToolsDB to Trove (see parent task T291782). But how do we do it?

We should establish a process that minimizes downtime. One option that was discussed in the past is to enable mysql replication from ToolsDB to Trove, limited to a single database. Other options can be explored.

We should test this process and document it, with the goal of making this operation (reasonably) fast, easy and safe. Some Toolforge users might be willing to perform the migration themselves if we provide them with clear instructions.

If possible, we should also automate parts of the process with scripts and cookbooks, to avoid a lengthy manual procedure.
