Watching message continues to appear
Closed, InvalidPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Hi. Looks like this week train fixes the design problem of watchlist star disappearance when Reading Lists is on. I can see it in group1, and it's a very good call, IMHO. But it fixes it in a weird way.

  • Turn on the Reading Lists
  • Open any page
  • Make sure the watchstar is back.
  • Expected: the watching message disappears from the action menu.
  • Got: the watching message moves to alongside the watchstar.

Thank you.

@IKhitron I'd like to just clarify the issue you're describing here. Is the following a correct summary?

  • The watch star now has the text 'Watch' next to it.
  • When clicking this button to watch a page, the word 'Watch' changes to 'Watching...' and then to 'Unwatch'.
  • You find it unexpected that the word 'Watching...' is briefly presented here?

Yes. Until now there was only the icon. Now there are both the icon and the text. It's very confusing, because in the menu with no separators it looks like two buttons.

The decision to add text here was taken based on the feedback summarised in T426453, to distinguish watching from the reading list, to reduce confusion whereby a star and a bookmark icon are next to each other with no other distinguishing information.

OK, I see. So, it's not a bug, it's by design. A pity. Could you please add a fake class to the message span, so it can be removed in personal style files? Thank you.
