  • Add to language-data (patch)
    • Run src/util/ulsdata2json.php before adding
    • Run src/util/ulsdata2json.php after adding
  • Add to translatewiki configuration (patch)
  • Deploy configuration to translatewiki
  • Add an entry to LocalNames/LocalNamesEn.php in the CLDR extension (if needed)
  • Add jquery.ime keyboard (if needed)
    • Add keyboard documentation. Note from contributor: "We don’t have the letter ü, but it works when I use SwiftKey. It would be better if we had these letters directly: ǜ, ǖ, ǘ."
  • Update jquery.uls and jquery.ime in the ULS extension
  • Deploy ULS to translatewiki
  • Create the translatewiki language portal
  • Make sure that the category for the language is not marked as disabled
  • Update the translatewiki language portal to indicate that the language is enabled
  • Add the requester (and possibly other relevant users) to the translators list on the portal
  • Enter the autonym in the Wikimedia Portals project
  • Test language search in UniversalLanguageSelector and fix the search index (if needed)

Hello! This is my first time contributing. I'd like to work on this task and have assigned it to myself. I'm currently trying to understand the implementation steps and would appreciate any guidance on where to start, especially regarding the relevant repository and files. Thank you

While following the language-data documentation and referring to similar previously accepted pull requests, I found that running php src/util/ulsdata2json.php first produced an automatic upstream update. Following the documented workflow, I submitted that update as a separate pull request before preparing the kix language-data changes.

I'll continue with the kix language-data patch once the prerequisite PR is reviewed and merged. If there's anything else you'd recommend before proceeding, I'd be happy to follow your guidance.
