Data Request ER organizers [for mid-July]
Open, Needs TriagePublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):

Requesting a data export from the Connection Team for Event Registration usage, specifically to identify active organizers and communities who could serve as regional "ambassadors" or power users.

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):

  • The Connection Team confirmed they can pull data by country, wiki (Spanish, Portuguese, etc.), and organizer username.
  • I would like a structured dataset containing:
    • Organizer username(s)
    • GrantID (when/if available, per @GFontenelle_WMF's comment below)
    • Event name
    • Event date (per Euphemia's request)
    • Event topics (per Gio's comment below)
    • Country of event (if in person / hybrid)
    • Type of event (in-person / hybrid)
    • Wiki(s) worked on
    • # of attendees (if available)
    • # of edits and/or bytes (if available, per Gio's comment below)
    • chat group link (if available, per Gio's comment below)
  • I can then filter by Wikimedia Region and identify potential power users to highlight as regional ambassadors 🌟.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):

  • Enables identification of active organizers in different regions who could mentor others.
  • Helps recognize and empower regional leaders.
  • Provides a clearer picture of Event Registration adoption across different regions.
  • Supports community growth by showcasing successful use cases.

Hello! As part of the Content Enablement team, I will be working on Event Registration from a regional lens during FY26/27. I just found out about this ticket -- which is perfect.

And I wanted to add a few more options for us to (hopefully) get in the structured dataset with what Silvia already listed:

  • Event topics: this can also help us understand the potential topics certain regions might be prioritizing to inform the ambassadors' work.
  • Grant ID: it might be useful to know if they are users already receiving a grant.
  • Chat group invite link: it would be useful to know if the user is sharing a group invite link as part of their organizing work. We wouldn't need the link, just to know if they are doing this. This information would inform their regional ambassador capacity, or in other words, their communication reach in their region, by already having a dedicated chat group.
  • Impact (edits/metrics) accomplished by the organizer: I'm not sure this would be possible, but it would be interesting to have the impact accomplished by the organizer to understand their impact in their community/region.

Thank you!
