We have determined in T409874#12049219 that version 0.298 of Presto contains a new feature that would be useful to us, as it would markedly improve our ability to do this:
T390328: Enable querying operational (prometheus) metrics via the WMF Data Platform
The latest point release at the time of writing is version 0.298.1 and we generally use the most recent release.
