Add wikibooks to wgImportSources in eswikisource
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Recently it was requested that we import a book from Wikibooks. I'd say this is a fairly common occurrence (Wikibooks is often confused with Wikisource as the place to upload books)

Checking InitialiseSettings.php, and the (fairly large) list of exceptions there, I noticed most of the exceptions add the 'b' source as well, so maybe the best option is to add it to the generic list.

If that's not the case, then please add it to the 'eswikisource' configuration.

I will add wikibooks as importsources for eswikisource , For adding to multiple wikis please start a discussion at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/RFC or somewhere suitable where multiple Wikisource users can join discussion such as enwikisource/mulwikisource

Thank you. I do not think this is important enough to bother people. I was hoping it would be suitable for an executive decision, but if it sounds too controversial, maybe every community should decide by themselves as it has happened multiple times.

Change #1306456 had a related patch set uploaded (by Anzx; author: Anzx):

It is not controversial, as per https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes it is required to have community consensus so that respective communities affected by such changes are allowed a chance give their input.

Understood. Given this is a not commonly used tool, that requires special rights (typically sysop or similar), and the choice for the default sources was not by community consensus, and the change wouldn't disturb any workflow for any wiki that has cared enough to request a custom setting, nor would affect anything significantly in the wikis that use the default setting, I thought that it would be suitable for an executive decision

But then again, I don't think this is very relevant at all. Thank you for your time
