Background
The Games Teaser module gives users a taste of Wikipedia's games feature directly within the For You feed. The first card shows the first question or step of the featured game for that day, with an entry point to the game.
Once the games hub is built, we will include a second card (accessible by swiping right) is a hub card promoting access to the games hub where users can play more games or review past games.
User Story
As a Wikipedia reader, I want to try a quick game question directly in my feed so that I can experience Wikipedia's games feature without committing to leaving the feed, and then have an easy path to play the full game or explore more games.
Requirements
Required now
- Card 1 (Teaser card): Displays the first question or step from the day's featured Wikipedia game.
- A 'Play today's game' CTA button appears that leads into Today's game. Tapping in leads them to the splash screen
- Tapping on either of the cards should also lead them into Today's game
- CTA should update to "Continue today's game" if they are left mid-play. Tapping in should show the mid-play splash screen
- CTA should update to "Review results" if they have completed the game. Tapping in should lead immediately to the results screen
- The three-dot more menu is present with standard options modified:
- Ok to remove Save for this module
- Show "Share" only once the game is completed. If not possible, then ok to hide for all
- Keep Hide this card, as long as they would still see the following day's game card. Imagine a violent image is in today's game preview. They can hide it, but still be eligible for tomorrow's. Later on when we have multiple games in this carousel, that will make sense.
- If no game is available for the day, hide the module
- If a user does not have access to games in the selected language of the Feed, hide this module
- Add module into settings screen (Order: Based on your interests, Because You Read, Continue Reading, Places of Interest, Discover Recommendations, Random, Games)
- [if needed] Remove the game module from the legacy/existing Explore Feed
- Add relevant instrumentation
Adding if Games Hub has been released [if not, PM to create follow-up task]
- Card 2 (Hub card): Displays a prompt to access the games hub ('Want to play more games? Go to the game hub'). A 'Game hub' CTA button navigates to the games hub.
- If no game is available for the day, this module only shows the game hub card
