Description

In FY26/27, TechDocs is supporting two hypotheses owned by Wikidata Platform team:

[DE2.4.1] Migration Supporting Technical Documentation: If we produce documentation on rewriting queries into the SPARQL 1.1 standard, WDQS users will be able to migrate to the new endpoints.

[DE2.4.3] If we provide structured guidance, examples, and clear paths to receiving additional support, WDQS users will be equipped to migrate to our new endpoints independently.

Specific tasks will be filed as subtasks as we determine the scope of work and milestones.

Status update:

August 6 - 12: Created new content structure for Migration Guide pages and revised landing page content
August 11: Started work on drafting revised migration overview page (targeted completion date August 21)
August 12-14: WDP team reviewed new content and structure
August 13: Started work on drafting query rewrite user guide (targeted completion date Aug 28 (round1) and Sept 11 (round 2)

Current timeline targets have us publishing the fully revised contents of the migration guide to the mainspace on September 28. I'll update this task with our progress as we move towards that goal.

docs: Update Services links, formatting, style

Status update:

August 17- 21:
- Gathered metrics to inform prioritization of content changes
- Tested query rewrite tool, worked on identifying good example queries for the introductory docs, and coordinated with Andrea on overall strategy for query examples and presenting rewrite logic
- Finished draft of Migration Guide overview page and shared for review by stakeholders

August 24-28:
- Created cross-references and added "related resources" sections to all WDQS pages on Wikitech to help improve findability of rewrite tool, implementation docs, and migration pages
- Finished and shared draft of Migration Guide how-to pages with stakeholders (T432358)

August 31 - Sept 4:
- Finished copyedits and structural revisions of GAS query rewrite page
- Cleaned up, categorized, and deprecated outdated pages on wikitech and wikidata.org
- Assessed content about federated queries; filed T436564
- Started revising wikidata-query-rewriter tool markdown files for readability / usability
