Updated edit panel demands you put your cursor in the edit field to work
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • Have this edit panel active:

image.png (1,497×92 px, 28 KB)

Whatever it is called now. Dunno if it is another useless revamp of the 2010 panel or some replacement.

What happens?:
Nothing.
Only after you add an extra step before clicking on the button namely:

  • Click on the edit field to put your cursor there

does the button start to work

What should have happened instead?:

  • The button shall insert its corresponding wikitext at the beginning of the page code, as the only text for a new page

Software version

Other information
As far as I remember it used to work well before the button style change for the panel.

Event Timeline

Well, perhaps it makes sense to have such behaviour when there are several edit boxes, although it is counter-intuitive to have one tool panel for several fields to begin with, tbh I didn't even realise it could be so not being a particularly active Wikisource contributor, but when there is one text field having to explicitly choose 1 out of 1 elements is annoying. Especially for new pages where it is also clear where the cursor would go whatever the usecase.

Bhsd claimed this task.
