Go to https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Линия_Хэйхэ_—_Тэнчун and see 3rd image in a page (monochrome). Click on it and see it in mediaviewer: it renders very different image (more bright). It looks like very different gamma correction in computer games.

I cannot reproduce it (Windows 11, Chrome 150). Can you please share screenshots of that?

Unrelated to managing files; more likely related to thumbnail creation.

@Aklapper why stalled?

One possibility is that there was a change in the rendering pipeline, and certain sizes were rendered with the old version and others the new version.

the latter for me also shows washed out.
