What is the problem?

When I am trying to create an article of an unsupported type, there is no option to change the title. I am not even shown the title of the page I will be creating.

I am shown a card for the associated wikidata entry, which might have a different title to the one I entered originally. I might assume this is the title that will be created, but it is not.

Steps to reproduce problem

https://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:NewArticle?newarticletitle=Robust_fringe_density
Select first option
Notice that there is no title input, just a card with the title Robust fringe density and direction estimation in noisy phase maps
Click "Start writing" and notice it starts editing a page called Robust fringe density

I think this also affects the subjectcovered step, although I cannot find an article to trigger this on testwiki (I don't think there are any wikidata items that have a testwiki sitelink).

This is expected. The title entered at the beginning is "Robust fringe density". That's the intended title for this article.
The wikidata card result is a wikidata match, that means the matches that we could find in wikidata based on your proposed title, that does not mean that the title of the article should change to the wikidata item label.

OK, but I am not sure that this is very obvious to the user. Moreover, what if I want to change the name of the title to be the same as the wikidata item?
