Background

As part of the new email confirmation experiment, we need a baseline for the email confirmation rate for new accounts.

Task

For registered accounts created in the last 90 days, calculate:

• Confirmation rate among accounts that provided an email address
  • of all new registered accounts that added an email address, what percentage confirmed that email within 24 hours of account creation?
  • calculation: number of new registered accounts that confirmed an email within 24 hours ÷ number of new registered accounts that provided an email address

• Confirmation rate among all registered accounts
  • of all new registered accounts, including accounts that did not add an email address, what percentage confirmed an email within 24 hours of account creation?
  • calculation: number of new registered accounts that confirmed an email within 24 hours ÷ total number of new registered accounts

Provide both calculations for:

• enwiki only
• all wikis combined

Exclude temporary accounts from all calculations.

For each calculation, include:

• confirmation rate
• number of accounts that confirmed an email within 24 hours
• total number of accounts used in the calculation
• exact 90-day date range used (April 1 through June 30)
