Description

This was brought up in Team challenges in Wikimania 2026.

Currently, In tools admin, you can set a gitlab repo or create a project in Phabricator:

It would be really nice if we could also set an official documentation space for the tool too. Connect it and advertise it publicly in toolhub. Right now, the documentation around toolforge tools are scattered and hard to find.

My preference would be having something like a wiki page with subpages (e.g. Tool:Stashbot in Wikitech) with a pre-filled box but open to other ideas

Wikitech has the Tool and Nova Resource namespaces for Toolforge (e.g., Tool:Stashbot) and CloudVPS (e.g., Nova Resource:Deployment-prep).

I was aware of Nove_Resource, but not Tool namespace at all. It would be really nice to make this more official and prominent.

The toolinfo field has a field for an URL to documentation. I think it would be pretty simple to create a button in Striker that creates a Wikitech Tool: page on some template and adds it to the toolinfo record, similar to the recently added prompts to automatically add new GitLab repos and Phabricator projects to the toolinfo record.

T123429: Create a Tool namespace on wikitech for documentation of Tool Labs projects has been there for 10 years.

Tool maintainers: Make your tool easier to find by creating a page in the Tool namespace and using the Tool template.

Better docs/advertising for this is certainly welcome.
