Background
Reader Experience and Moderator Tools are both adding new popover implementations that pop up in response to the bookmark and watchstar buttons, respectively, and display in the same place in the UI. On desktop, this means we need a common element, positioned in the right place, to anchor our popovers on.
The ModTools team created T433609 and have opened a patch to implement this anchor point in MediaWiki core. This task represents the work that the Reader Experience team will do to review that patch and discuss the implementation with the ModTools team.
Note to Reader Experience: please discuss the work in T433609; this task only serves to cover the work in our sprint.
Requirements
To do:
- Test the patch and ensure it meets our design and technical requirements in Vector 2022
- Confirm the behavior with sticky header
- Discuss how it should interact with notifications
- Discuss implementation in core and scoping. Should this be a new Resource Loader module? Should it be globally available? Should it be extensible in the future, e.g. could we add an opinionated implementation of the CdxPopover component if needed?
- Are there any accessibility concerns?
Acceptance criteria
- The Reader Experience team has provided adequate feedback so that T433609 can be completed.
This task was created by Version 1.1.0 of the Reader Experience team task template using phabulous.
