Background

Reading Lists is graduating from Beta Features through a phased rollout to logged-in Wikipedia users.

Phase 3 (final rollout) is scheduled for September 28, 2026 and includes all remaining Wikipedia wikis that were not in phase 1 or 2.

On these wikis, Reading Lists should become available to all registered users without requiring them to opt in through Beta Features.

There is a config flag to use for enabling ReadingLists for all logged-in users, and the beta feature must be disabled.

$wgReadingListBetaFeature = false;

Acceptance criteria

• On September 28, 2026, Reading Lists is enabled for all logged-in users on all remaining Wikipedia wikis.
• The ReadingLists Beta Feature is disabled.
• ReadingLists remains a beta feature on other Wikipedia wikis.
• After deployment, monitor grafana for health of ReadingLists (bloom filter dashboard) and logstash for errors.

Communication criteria

Before rollout, confirm that community-facing communication has been done to communicate the rollout (community-wide in tech news, and specific outreach to the larger communities such as German), letting them know of the rollout date and where users can report problems and give feedback.
