In my conviction that's hurting usability as the user looses context of where they came from – one of the reasons behind a not fully opaque backdrop:

The reason is a non-DS backdrop filter backdrop-filter: blur(30px), which itself is an interesting addition, but definitely not at 30px. It has not been raised against Codex before. 2px would be sufficient enough.

disclaimer: i still need to test the recent changes, so we may tweak this.

the rationale behind the strong backdrop filter is that the account setup dialog opens automatically after account creation. this is not a dialog that opens from the newcomer homepage. we wanted to create a more focused and separated experience, lowering the risk of a brand new account being "distracted" by what's behind the dialog (especially on desktop).

this treatment should apply only to the account setup dialog, not to all dialogs. i will test this to make sure this is implemented as desired.

Just reviewing the patch and there's an alignment or spacing issue with the .growthexperiments-reading-recommendations-personalize-button that would be good to fix with this task. See pic for reference.

I was able to test this on test wiki. Can we fix the two things @Etonkovidova highlighted that are still the case on both desktop and mobile

• the background of the card to select interest should be gray50 #f8f9fa
• the button on that card should be primary progressive

Nice to have if we have time is to increase the size of the thumbnails.

This has already been fixed, see the patch in the task description. In case you tested on test.wikipedia.org, it might not have made the cut y'day in time. Tomorrow should be visible.

Relying on that Growth does really take their primary progressive off the table. It's still on on test.wikipedia.org. The SuggestedEdits module is still visible.

Nice to have if we have time is to increase the size of the thumbnails.

This was already in place in my Vue list patch, but didn't make it in the other path taken from Anne's patch on yet.

Is this a technical limitation? From the design point of view Amin and I agreed that its okay to leave both as progressive primary for both modules since this is only for the experiment and things will change later.

That's a design system premise for guiding users. If two competing elevated button actions are in one view, they should turn into normal progressive buttons, not both primary progressive. (my phrasing)

@Volker_E if the user has selected "reading and exploring" then we should have the button in reading module to be primary progressive. I am not sure if the growth team has time to switch their's to normal progressive. If they do great. Otherwise I think we can make reading module one primary when the user has selected reader role

Also I checking again today for background task below, looks like its not made it to test wiki yet.

Also one more thing that I did not mention here but we chatted about it was having the button and text align in the center of the card as shown below for Desktop

If keeping both mobile and desktop card style the same is simpler for now then we can align both to the left. Let me know what is more feasible right now in the given time in terms of alignment and button size.
