Hi @Ladsgroup! I am currently working on getting the Beta Cluster off Bullseye. As the author https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/1326944 and given your work on T427999, I would like your advice to proceed with this ticket.

As I understand, this change is a hack to rely on the Beta Cluster's redis_misc host for the LockManager. However, unlike in production, redis_misc in Beta was and still is solely used by MediaWiki's LockManager. In other words: replacing this redis_misc host with a single redis_lock one, followed by a change to resolve the ( $wmgRealm !== 'labs' ) ? $wmgRedisLockPassword : $wmgRedisPassword hack, would be a straightforward change to reduce technical debt, while keeping the number of MediaWiki config changes and resource footprint (cpu/mem) at a minimum. Is this correct?

If you feel a different proposal works out better, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I think the simplest solution would be to create a new VM with redis, set the password accordingly and then just flip it there, it all should work, once that is set up, we can definitely start to get rid of differences between prod and beta including that password hack.
