Translatable citation type names change depending on interface language instead of project/page language (S)
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue:

What happens?:

What should have happened instead?:

  • Generated reference names based on the project language or at least the page language (= English on testwiki)
  • When re-using a reference on French Wikipedia the reference name should always be in French, regardless of my personal interface settings (hypothetical example given that the feature is not deployed to content wikis)

Change #1337877 had a related patch set uploaded (by WMDE-Fisch; author: WMDE-Fisch):

[mediawiki/extensions/Cite@master] Use content language for autoname message parts

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/1337877

I've made some changes to the ticket, but JS tests need to be moved to the PHP side of things (marked as incomplete)
We need to think & discuss the title override functionality, I've tried to demonstrate the behavior in the tests - check with PM if this is really what we want
