2026 week 41 1.47-wmf.23 Changes wmf/1.47.0-wmf.23

This MediaWiki Train Deployment is scheduled for the week of Monday, October 5th:

Monday October 5thTuesday, October 6thWednesday, October 7thThursday, October 8thFriday
Backports only.Branch wmf.23 and deploy to Group 0 Wikis.Deploy wmf.23 to Group 1 Wikis.Deploy wmf.23 to all Wikis.No deployments on fridays

How this works

  • Any serious bugs affecting wmf.23 should be added as subtasks beneath this one.
  • Any open subtask(s) block the train from moving forward. This means no further deployments until the blockers are resolved.
  • If something is serious enough to warrant a rollback then you should bring it to the attention of deployers on the #wikimedia-operations IRC channel.
  • If you have a risky change in this week's train add a comment to this task using the Risky patch template
  • For more info about deployment blockers, see Holding the train.

ihurbain subscribed.

I added https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T440296 to this because I'm reasonably sure that it's a new behaviour on this train, and it does look like a bug that has the potential to be annoying (it makes scrolling to the top of the page difficult.)

Rolled back immediately on group1 because of high error rate (see two subtasks added here).

After that retry, https://versions.toolforge.org/ looks correct (group1 is back on 1.47.0-wmf.22), and Logstash levels are going down.

Rolled back immediately on group1 because of high error rate (see two subtasks added here).

At the moment https://versions.toolforge.org/ shows wmf.23 for group1 as well as T440429 is still showing up in logstash. Maybe the rollback still didn't finish completely?

@Zabe: Urgh, and Logstash looks pretty bad again too.
It seems that the backporting of https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/core/+/1352455 by @daniel somehow triggered this again? Or maybe that's just coincidence? I'm not exactly sure what happened here.

From #wikimedia-operations IRC around 09:49 UTC:

<duesen> andre: My patch is hitting the getEntityId on null error. I will ignore that and push on with the backport.

Deployed .23 to group1 for a third time today. T440432 (which is .22 only) had a short peak right afterwards.
I asked James_F in #wikimedia-operations IRC for judgement:

<James_F> andre: If Wikidata injected a bunch of bad content into the job queue theyโ€™ll take a while to burn out.

Things are calm for now.
