Steps:

on testwiki wmf.21 create an account
select an interest(s) from the drop-down list suggested articles titles that do not match any articles. On testwiki select (or type) "Page202"

What happened:

the interest selector dialog shows loading state for a very long time
then Suggested edits, initially showing some articles, changes to "Currently no structured tasks are available"

when a user returns to the interest selector dialog, the dialog still showing loading state
when a user clicks on select interests from Suggested Edits, it still shows the loading state

What should happen:

a user should be informed promptly that there is no articles available

Notes

should selecting interests in Daily reads affect the selection for suggested edits?
that issue was not present on enwiki beta
it could be a quite edge case on real wikis
morelikethis:Page202 promptly returns zero results on Special:Search page

thanks @Etonkovidova. here are my suggestions

setting some context: when a new account skips account setup we bring them to the newcomer homepage with a pool of random suggestions. under those suggestions, there is a button to 'select interests'. on tap/click we open the interests dialog with random suggestions.

people can search for interests and if there are no interests we update the amount of avaiable suggestions to "0 suggested edits found" and we display a message under 'Related articles' that says "0 related articles found". we should also set a time out (5s?) so that the loading indicator under the 'Related articles' label doesn't continue for too long.

if people decide to continue nonetheless we opt for the default ux that we currently have in production for when no suggested edits are available.
