Just don't forget to add 'shellpolicy' when a patch is created :-)

Is the Bugzilla bug (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/skins/contrib/Wikimedia/images/bugzilla-logo.png) usable in a redesigned logo? I think the bug is kind of cute and might be nice to retain, but I'm unsure of its license status.

Cannot find that specific image somewhere upstream bug only mugshots, the mugshots are MPL though. Bugzilla's Dave Shea might know.

Deploying this could certainly motivate people to replace it with something that's not crappy. ;)

That was quick. :P +1 for the logo in comment 6.
I wonder if there's any process defined (and policy/trademark guidelines).

prolly gotta ask legal. +1 from me also for the comment 6 logo.

Man o man if legal approves I want the logo in comment 6 as well!

Cute. :-)

Can someone e-mail legal@wikimedia.org (or Michelle or Luis directly) about whether this would be acceptable to use?

It would be nice if the logo for bugzilla would be a little more distinctive from the wikimedia mark, e.g. something like this https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia_beetle.svg "

How about a fly swatter for the basis of the icon?

Out of curiousity, would we legally be able to continue utilizing the "bugzilla" name if we were to change the logo?

A mockup of a potential logo for Wikimedia's Bugzilla using a fly swatter. Very rough draft.

I've made a quick mockup of the "fly swatter" logo I was thinking of. I realize it's very rough, the coloring doesn't work very well and the dots on the swatter look very rough, perhaps it'd be better to remove them completely. The differentiation between the handle and the rest of the object isn't nearly as smooth as I'd like. Again, though, it's a rough draft.

The font used is Gill Sans, same as Wikimedia, Wikimedia Commons, and other WMF projects. If you'd like me to upload it in a different file extension format I'll gladly do so.

Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Oh oh, sorry this took so long. :(
In the meantime there has been a RfC resulting in planning to move away from Bugzilla. See [[mw:Phabricator]] for more information.
Hence this has low priority; I would not recommend to invest time here anymore, as Wikimedia Bugzilla will vanish at some point (and with it its logo).

Aklapper claimed this task.

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Hence closing as "declined".

For the related Phabricator task, see T707.
